Governor Ridwan Kamil said that in essence, the Anniversary of the Mother's Day (PHI) was born to remind the young generation of Indonesia regarding the struggle of women who cannot be separated from the history of the progress of the Indonesian nation.
"Happy Mother's Day for women and mothers wherever they are. Mother is the first teacher, and an eternal teacher for her children," said Ridwan Kamil.
Historically, Mother's Day in Indonesia was celebrated on the anniversary of the opening of the first Indonesian Women's Congress, which was held from December 22 to 25, 1928. The congress was held in a building called Dalem Jayadipuran, which is now the office of the Traditional History and Value Conservation Center on Jl . Brigjen Katamso, Yogyakarta.
At that time, the congress was attended by around 30 women's organizations from 12 cities in Java and Sumatra. History records in Indonesia, women's organizations have existed since 1912, inspired by 19th century Indonesian female heroes such as Kartini, Martha Christina Tiahahu, Cut Nyak Meutia, Maria Walanda Maramis, Dewi Sartika, Nyai Ahmad Dahlan, Rasuna Said, and so. The Congress is intended to improve women's rights in education and marriage.
Until finally, the Commemoration of Mother's Day in Indonesia is celebrated nationally on December 22. This date was inaugurated by President Soekarno under the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia No. 316 of 1959 on December 16, 1959, on the 25th anniversary of the Indonesian Women's Congress.
Special in West Java, said Emil, the Governor calls, that it will fully support the empowerment of women with various programs.
He also mentioned, there was a big prize for the Mother of the West Java Provincial Government. The prize is the launch of the Women's School Program to Reach Dreams and Dreams (Sekoper Cinta).
The presence of the Sekoper Cinta, continued the Governor, is an answer related to women's problems in society by developing their potential and talents. Even this program is targeting women over 18 years of age who are married or not, both in urban or rural areas.
In this program, women will get the same basic model related to womanhood and ethics. So that the Women's School can be one model of women's empowerment, with the development of leadership.
"This School of Women Reaches Dreams and Ideals has already attracted many applicants, Inshaa Allah, in January 2019 we have taken it to strengthen family science, economics, so that women are more empowered, which in turn will improve the quality of life of the people," he said.
Until now, as Governor, Ridwan Kamil always held firm the advice of his mother. The first advice is to always be patient as a leader, because after all, it has become a risk for the leader to take care of a million problems.
