BANDUNG REGENCY - Electricity energy needs in Indonesia from year to year will continue to increase along with the increasing population and economic progress. Based on the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) of 2018-2027, with electricity projections of electricity needs of 6.86% per year, the projected electricity demand for electricity in 2027 is predicted to be 434 TWh.

To accelerate electricity production in Indonesia, PT PLN (Persero) through Directors Decree No. 284.K / DIR / 2009 dated 7 December 2009 established a Java Hydro Generation Unit which has now changed its name to Central Java Development Unit l (hereinafter abbreviated as UIP JBT l).
PLN UIP JBT I is tasked with carrying out the construction of Power Plants in the Central Java Region, namely the Provinces of West Java, Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
There are 4 plants in the Central Java Region with a total capacity of 3,050 MW which are under the control of PLN UIP JBT l, with 2,050 MW of which are new renewable energy namely Upper Cisokan Pumped Storage Hydroelectric 4x260 MW, Jatigede 2x55 MW Hydroelectric Power Plant and Matenggeng 900 MW Hydroelectric Power Plant .
