JAKARTA - The Regional Government of West Java Province was awarded as the Innovative Provincial Government in the 2018 Innovative Government Award (IGA). The event was held by the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs Research and Development Agency.
West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil received the award directly from the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tjahyo Kumolo in the evening award of the Innovative Government Award 2018 at the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel Puri Agung Convention Hall, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman Jakarta, Friday night (12/07/18).
Met after the event, Emil, the familiar greeting Ridwan Kamil said that this award was proof that innovation became a culture that was present in West Java.
"Alhamdulillah, West Java is innovative, Bandung as my ex is also innovative," Emil said.
"So, both prove that innovation is a culture for us in West Java and in Bandung too. Hopefully this also becomes a spirit and pride," he continued.
Minister of Home Affairs Tjahyo Kumolo stressed that this award was expected to be able to stimulate 514 districts / cities and 34 provinces in Indonesia. Innovation is important because it can cut costs and increase efficiency.
In addition, innovation can also be a momentum for the nation's rise and increase Indonesia's competitiveness. Where currently our country's competitiveness is in 36th position out of 137 countries.
"Innovation is one of the models that can be applied to catch up in the context of competitiveness," said the Minister of Home Affairs in his speech.
There are five categories in the IGA 2018. Following are the regional governments who receive awards:
