BEKASI - The Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, was present to accompany Indonesian President Joko Widodo, at the Commemoration of the International Disability Day (HDI) 2018, at the Court of the Summarecon Mall in Bekasi City, Monday (03/11/18).
The International theme of HDI in 2018 is "Empowering Persons With Disabilities and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality". While in the country, this theme is embodied in the national theme "Indonesia Inclusion and Friendly Disability". With the agenda of delivering information and publications on the rights of persons with disabilities.
President Joko Widodo revealed, in his reign, the Law on Disabled Persons Number 8 of 2016 was born which contained the fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities. This law guarantees the fulfillment of the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities.
"There are 24 rights of persons with disabilities regulated in the Act. For example, the right to live, work, education, access to facilities, rights free from stigma, social welfare and public services," said Jokowi.
Furthermore, through the Ministry of Social Affairs, efforts will also continue to be made to accelerate the fulfillment of the rights of persons with disabilities. One of them is the fulfillment of Social Welfare rights, namely with the Disabled Persons Card as an identity.
The card, in the future, will be integrated with the National Identity Card (KTP) to facilitate disability access to various public services. In 2018, 7,000 people with disabilities have been targeted to get this card.
In addition, the Family Hope Program (PKH) Social Assistance will also be distributed to persons with disabilities registered in Integrated Data on Poor and Poor Management as stipulated in Permensos Number 28 of 2017.
"This year as many as 119,311 beneficiaries of people with disabilities have accepted PKH. The total assistance is Rp 238,622,000,000," he said.
Meanwhile, to fulfill the accessibility rights of persons with disabilities, 7,070 people assisting persons with disabilities are also being distributed in the form of wheelchairs, hearing aid, crutches, blind sticks, prosthetic limbs, fake hands and others to help and facilitate mobility of persons with disabilities.
Besides that, President Jokowi also appreciated the achievements of disability athletes in the holding of the 2018 Asian Para Games. Athletes with disabilities, he said, had extraordinary abilities and could be an inspiration to us all.
"Thank God, Indonesia has a very proud achievement," Jokowi said.
In addition, Joko Widodo also wants to realize the proposed construction of factories for people with disabilities.
"But I have been waiting for him to want to find the land. I am waiting until now the land is not there yet," Jokowi said.
For this, Jokowi immediately asked Social Minister Agus Gumiwang to realize this, so that persons with disabilities could be empowered.
Providing employment for persons with disabilities, continued Jokowi, is part of the law relating to the rights of persons with disabilities.
"We know that the law already exists, but more importantly how to implement it, implement the mandate of the existing law," Jokowi explained.
