Jokowi: 200 Thousand Houses in West Java Have Not Had Electricity

BOGOR-President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo accompanied by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Rini Soemarno reviewed the realization of the program 'BUMN Present for the Country: Connect Free Electricity for Unable Families' around the southern part of West Java and Banten.

The location reviewed on this occasion was in Bantarjati Village, Bogor City. At that location, the President also at the same time carried out ceremonial activities to activate electricity to the homes of residents assisted by the program.

Jokowi revealed that in West Java Province there are approximately 200 thousand homes that have no electricity, so that by the end of 2018 it can reach 100 thousand electricity connections.

"There is indeed no electricity, there is already electricity but it connects with neighbors or with parents. Now we connect independently," President Jokowi said in Bogor on Sunday (12/02/2018).

With the connection of houses of disadvantaged families to the electricity network, President Jokowi hopes that residents can use electricity more optimally at a lower cost.

"It's cheaper than the data we receive. Usually per month, it can be Rp. 50 thousand, Rp. 60 thousand. After being self-paid, it costs less than Rp. 25 thousand to Rp. 30 thousand. The connection can be more for TV, iron, rice cooker, "he said.

Meanwhile, Minister Rini explained, up to now, the synergy of SOEs to finance electricity connection programs for poor households around West Java has reached 60,798 thousand families. As of the end of December 2018, the number of families whose homes are connected to electricity will reach the target of 100 thousand families.

"The fact is that there are still people who access electricity but it is taken from neighboring homes. With the help of electricity connections through the BUMN Synergy, the residents will fully enjoy official electricity from PLN. This certainly helps the community to sustain economic activities and the quality of life of their households. "Rini said.

Also present in this activity were the ranks of the Echelon I of the Ministry of BUMN, and 35 Managing Directors of BUMN who were sponsors of the electricity connection program. President Jokowi, Minister Rini along with a number of Managing Directors and Millennial BUMN went to Bantarjati Village by cycling from Bogor Palace for approximately 1.2 Km. Then in Bantarjati, in addition to reviewing the electricity connection program, the President and Minister Rini also interacted with the Mekaar customer group PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (Persero) or PNM.

The 34 SOEs that synergize with PLN for the electricity connection program are Telkom, BRI, Pertamina, Bank Mandiri, BNI, Angkasa Pura II, Pelindo II, BTN, Pupuk Indonesia, Wijaya Karya, PT PP, PGN, Waskita Karya, Pegadaian, PTPN III, Antam, Jasa Marga, Jasa Raharja, Taspen, Airnav, Askrindo. In addition, there are also Jasindo, ASDP Indonesia, National Logistics Agency, Jamkrindo, Biofarma, Semen Indonesia, Hutama Karya, Kereta Api Indonesia, Dahana, Perhutani, Pindad, Pos Indonesia and Jiwasraya.

"This synergy has two main objectives. First is to realize the acceleration of the electrification ratio program. Second, to improve the standard of living of poor households," Minister Rini added.

He explained, in realizing this free electricity connection program, BUMN had agreed to synergize as an effort to ensure the implementation of electricity connection for the poor people with connection fees funded by the SOE Present to State program fund.

These funds are sponsorship and not from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. This program is implemented based on the Ministry of BUMN Letter No. S-114 / S.MBU / 07/2018, dated July 13, 2018, regarding the Electrification Program in Southern West Java and Banten.

"The number of underprivileged people chosen to obtain electricity is determined based on data from the National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K)," he concluded. (Even)
