    Bio Farma; Challenges and Opportunities to market Products in Islamic Countries


    BANDUNG-M. Rahman Roestan, President Director of Bio Farma spoke at a seminar on the series of international forums "The 1st Meeting of the Heads of National Medicines Regulatory Authorities (NMRAs) from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States".

    Rahman explained the stages of getting WHO Pre-Qualification, Tuesday 20 November 2018 in Jakarta to around 200 participants including representatives from 32 countries.

    The NMRAs meeting was held officially on 21-22 November 2018, BPOM RI as the organizer of the First Meeting of the Head of the Drug Regulatory Authority of the OIC member countries. Starting with the side event on November 20, 2018 with the theme "Opportunities and Challenges of Entering product's Market in OIC countries".

    Head of the POM Agency Penny K. Lukito explained that this meeting was aimed at producing an agreement regarding the strategy to strengthen collaboration between OIC's state drug regulatory authorities in order to accelerate the independence of drugs and vaccines in the OIC countries.

    From the release of Bio Farma, Rahman added, "In the OIC countries themselves, from around 57 member countries there are only 7 countries that have vaccine factories and there are only 2 factories recognized by the World Health Agency, but one factory in Senegal only produces one vaccine. Yellow fever vaccine for West African, Central African needs. "

    "Industry cannot apply for PQ-WHO certification if the National Agency for Drug and Food Control has not been qualified, so that both the Industry and Regulators in this case BPOM must be assessed according to WHO standards, both in document standards, quality systems, quality management, facilities and human resources," said Rahman

    Bio Farma Indonesia has around 12 vaccine products that have received Pre Qualifications from the WHO World Health Organization since 1997, so that these products have been marketed internationally. (Even)
