GEMBLOUX, BELGIUM - In a series of working visits by the Deputy Governor of West Java, Uu Ruhzanul Ulum, a meeting was held with Vice Rector Gembloux University who was also a Lecturer at the University of Liege, Prof. Pascal Leroy.

Gembloux University is a University in Belgium that excels in the fields of Bio Technology, Humanities, Social Science, Science and Technology and Health. The university also contributes more than 8,000 scientific publications and papers annually.

Several well-known universities in Indonesia have had a Collective Agreement with Gembloux University, including the Bandung Institute of Technology (Faculty of Applied Science), Gajah Mada University, Udayana University and Pattimura University.

Seeing this opportunity, the Deputy Governor of West Java offered cooperation with other universities in West Java, especially in the fields of Health and Nursing.

"West Java Province has other excellent universities such as Padjadjaran University and Bogor Agricultural Institute which can work together with Gembloux University specifically in the fields of health, nursing, agriculture and biotechnology. This is an effort to accelerate quality improvement in formal education in West Java, which must be directly proportional to physical and economic development in West Java, "he said at the meeting on Wednesday (8/11/18) local time.

This was welcomed by Prof. Leroy, who also offers a PhD program for residents of West Java with tuition fees below the average. "Looking at the increasingly harmonious Bilateral Relations between West Java and Wallonia, we invite students from West Java to take doctoral programs at Gembloux University and Liege University by paying only 1,000 Euros until the Lecture is finished," Leroy said.

The cheap tuition fee at the two universities is a complementary subsidy given by the Belgian Government for Higher Education Institutions in Belgium.

The Vice Governor hopes that the implementation of cooperation between West Java and Wallonia in the education sector can be realized soon, including through the facilitation of this affordable S3 program.
