    Private Universities in West Java and Banten Lack of Professors

    BANDUNG, - Around 374 Private Universities (PTS) in West Java and Banten with 2083 lecturers, only 5% or 105 lecturers have professors' academic positions.
     
    Director General of Science and Technology and Higher Education Resources - Kemenristekdikti Prof. Dr. Ali Gufron Mukti said the requirements of the Ministry of Research and Higher Education at least every Private Universities or every study program must have a professor.
     
    "If you follow the number of PTS, it means there are still 269 lecturers with professors' academic positions," said Ali after attending a seminar on "Strategic Seminar on Achievement and Development of Professor Career" on Widyatama University campus, Bandung, Thursday (10/25/2018).
     
    Ali said if he followed the number of study programs as much as 1,682, it mean there were still 1,577 lecturers with professors' academic positions. Whereas the quality of tertiary institutions has become an indispensable matter for PTS, which is demanded to produce competitive graduates.
     
    "One variable of the importance of lecturers is professional lecturers, including the qualifications of professors' academic positions," he said.
     
    According to him, problems can arise from the lecturers themselves, or from the Ministry's policies, or from the implementation of the management of academic positions.
     
    Responding to these conditions, the Association of Central PTSI BP and West Java on the occasion of addressing the above, held a "Strategy Seminar on Achievement and Development of Professor's Career Career."
     
    The seminar discussed the lack of professors in a number of PTS in West Java in the aspects of policy, implementation, and tips on achieving and developing a career for professors for lecturers.
     
    The seminar presented M.Sc resource persons. Ph.D .; Director of Career and HR Competency - Directorate General of Science & Technology & Higher Education Resources - Prof. Dr. Bunyamin Maftuh M.Pd., MA; Chairman of ABP PTSI Center - Prof. Dr. Thomas Suyatno, as well as the Head of LLK Dikti - Prof. Dr. Uman Suherman, AS, M.Pd.
     
    The seminar was initiated by the General Chairperson of the PTSI BP Association Center and organized by the Association of BP PTSI West Java and Banten, in collaboration with the Higher Education West Java Higher Education Service / LLL Institute, attended by around 700 doctors with academic positions. West Java Banten high, also representatives from Jakarta city, East Java and Kalimantan.
     
    Organizing Seminars attended by the most participants were supported by the leaders of the Foundation and PT, are: Widyatama University, Unswagati - Cirebon, Parahyangan University, Maranatha University, Sangga Buana University - YPKP, PoltekPos, ABP PTSI Banten, Langlangbuana University, Nusantara Islamic University, University Al Ghifari, University of Wiralodra - Indramayu, Unikom, and developer of Allegria.
     
    Ali added the lecturers' career development was in line with the Ministry of Higher Education Research and Technology program, Higher Education / Higher Education Service Institution Wil IV West Java Banten, also PTP ABP and APTISI.
     
    "This implementation is a tangible manifestation of the attention of the BP PTSI Association, Educational Organizers / Foundations and Universities to always encourage lecturer careers," he concluded. (Pun)
