Santri Must Maintain the Spirit of Jihad Resolution

TASIKMALAYA CITY - The big Ceremony commemorating the National Santri Day (HSN) in 2018 was held in the chest area of Tasikmalaya City, Monday (10/22/18).

Acting as ceremonial inspector, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Wiranto represented Indonesian President Joko Widodo. The large Ceremony attended by thousands of santri from all over Indonesia were also attended by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, Mayor of Tasikmalaya Budi Budiman, Mustasyar Executive Board of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Maruf Amin, PBNU General Chair Said Aqil Siradj and Commander-in-Chief of Islamic Students Muhaimin Iskandar.

Wiranto, in his direction, said that the role of santri and ulama is currently needed in maintaining a very dynamic social and political dynamics.

"Looking at the development of social politics lately, the presence and role of the santri and the ulema will be increasingly needed in maintaining a very dynamic social and political dynamics," he said.

The jihad resolution initiated by previous Islamic figures is a commitment that is always relevant to the context of the present era. According to him, this is important to know, given the continued threat of the Indonesian nation according to the conditions of the era.

"In the past, the real threat came from outside, now the potential for interference could arise from political competition among fellow nationals who often unwittingly led to political hatred and the spread of hoaxes that could divide the national unity and unity," said Wiranto.

Therefore, Wiranto continued, through the National Santri Day, we always maintained the spirit of jihad resolution as mandated by the founding father of ulama, santri and Islamic fighters. This is to prevent and protect the nation from identity politics manifested in hate politics.

"I also advised the santri to help maintain the unity of the nation and continue the struggle in achieving the ideals of independence in the spirit of ukhuwah Islamiah, ukhuwah wathoniah and ukhuwah basyariah," he hoped.

History records, the struggle against the invaders in seizing independence and maintaining the sovereignty of the NKRI could not be separated from the big role of the ulama and santri. On October 22, 1945 or 73 years ago there had been a major event for Muslims in Indonesia. On that date, the national hero who was also the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Hasyim Ashari issued a resolution of jihad which became the main grip of Muslims in fortifying the independence of the Republic of Indonesia to expel invaders and enemies of the nation. President Joko Widodo through Presidential Decree No. 22 of 2015 stipulates that every October 22 is celebrated as the National Santri Day.

West Java Provincial Government Support For Santri

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said, currently the number of Muslims in West Java reaches 45 million more than the population of 48 million and makes the province with the most Muslims in the world and Indonesia. While the number of pesantren in West Java is more than 9 thousand and the number of mosques is more than 100 thousand. Therefore said Emil, as he is familiar, the West Java Provincial Government should have a program especially for the santri that must be fought for.

"We have a number of programs for santri. Insyaallah, the program will be fought for the existence of a better santri," Emil said.

The first program is, currently the West Java Provincial Government is preparing a Regional Regulation on Religious and Religious Education. With the regulation the santri will be better managed by the state and the pesantren's infrastructure will be more maximal. Then to guard the aqeedah and love the Qur'an the West Java Provincial Government is also preparing a Maghrib Mengaji and Subuh program to congregate so that the youth become mosque experts and religious experts.

"There will also be a Digital Zakat program, so that Muslims will unite as generous people with their obligations through the present, namely online and digital," he said.

For the independence of Islamic boarding schools, a One Company Islamic Boarding School program is also being prepared. In addition, the plan is to start an English language training program for religious teachers next month.

"We will send the best graduates abroad to preach, so that one day bringing world peace is a cleric from West Java," Emil said.

There will also be a digital da'wah program through smartphones. Emil said, according to the survey, Jabar residents use smartphones every day for 4 hours but most are used for futility.

"Hopefully with the digital da'wah program we can balance information content to the people of West Java," he said.

The next program is Satu Desa Satu Hafiz (one village, one hafiz quran). At present, said Emil, his party needs 6 thousand hafiz quran.

"We are preparing a program for Satu Desa, Satu Hafiz quran. There are 6 thousand of our villages needing 6 thousand hafiz Quran. In the 3 years we want in the remote villages that become the imam of the mosque are those who hafiz quran," he said

Finally, there will be a Mesra Kredit (Mesjid Sejahtera) program, where people who cannot afford to come to the mosque can get financial help. It is expected that West Java residents will become mosque experts as well as get economic help.
