    80 Percent of Telkom Network Recovers After Central Sulawesi Earthquake


    BANDUNG-PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TelkomGroup) has successfully recovered 80% of its cellular service sites after the earthquake disaster that occurred in Central Sulawesi. Previously, Telkom's backbone network was the route of Palu-Donggala-Makassar and the route of Palu-Parigi-Manado had recovered 100% a few days ago.

    Telkom's Vice President of Corporate Communication Arif Prabowo said his party would continue to provide the best so that all telecommunications services in Palu and surrounding areas were back as usual.

    "We are grateful that currently TelkomGroup has succeeded in restoring the backbone network to and from Palu and 80% of cellular service sites," Arif said in his official statement in Bandung on Monday (10/08/2018).

    Arif said TelkomGroup mobilized hundreds of trained technical personnel, mobilized mobile generators and mobile BTS.

    "The synergy between Telkom, PLN and Pertamina will continue, especially in terms of restoring electricity and providing fuel for generators," he said.

    In addition to seeking maximum recovery of telecommunications networks, TelkomGroup with 7 (seven) state-owned enterprises (BUMNs), namely PT PLN (Persero), PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pelabuhan Indonesia IV (Persero), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero ) Tbk, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) have established the BUMN Center for Disaster Care in Central Sulawesi to channel the assistance of all BUMNs to affected communities.

    "Currently, a number of assistance has been distributed in the form of tents and blankets, clothing, food and communal kitchen materials, clean water and MCK, medical services and medicines and other assistance worth Rp. 22.5 billion," he explained.

    TelkomGroup also provides special assistance programs in the form of free internet and telephone facilities in 16 emergency response stations in various locations. Not only that, TelkomGroup also provides 157 free wifi locations in 9 cities and 50 minutes free packages and 200 SMS for Telkomsel users in Central Sulawesi. To help deal with disaster victims, TelkomGroup also gave 1,000 Simpati starter cards to police officers and disaster volunteers.

    "The presence of Telkom Group and BUMNs is expected to ease the burden on the Palu community and its surroundings," he concluded. jo
