BANDUNG - Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) sent food aid, towels, baby supplies, and medicines to victims of the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Palu and Donggala, Monday, 1/10. The assistance was sent through the Indonesian Air Force Aid Post for Palu at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
"The leadership and academic community of the Bandung Institute of Technology expressed their condolences and deep concern for the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Donggala, Palu, and the surrounding area," said Miming Miharja, Vice-Chancellor for Public Administration, Alumni, and Communication at ITB in a press release on Wednesday. Earthquake disaster with magnitude of 7.4 SR followed by Tsunami is known to hit Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi on Friday, 28/9. Hundreds of people reportedly died and were injured due to collapsed buildings and a wave of tsunamis hit the Palu and Donggala areas.
"We pray for and help make the victims get the help they need," said Miming.
Director of Public Administration Binarti Dyah Pertiwi said the delivery of Palu disaster relief goods from ITB to the Aid Post at Halim Perdanakusuma was inseparable from the help of all parties.
"Other assistance is prepared by the ITB team, are clean water supply technology, prototype earthquake resistant houses, early warning systems, and disaster mitigation," he said.
Assistance will immediately be continued according to their respective fields of expertise. (Jo)
