BANDUNG - Governor of West Java, Mochamad Ridwan Kamil won an award from the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) at the XV National Conference, at the Outdoor Pool, Grand Preanger Hotel, Bandung, Saturday (9/18/18) night.
The award from the IAI was achieved by Ridwan Kamil as an individual, for his efforts and real contribution in managing and improving the quality of architecture, environment and urban areas.
Emil, his nickname, who is also an architect, was grateful for the award he received from IAI.
"If the award is given between agencies it is normal, but if the appreciation from colleagues in the profession is extraordinary. It means there is a systematic assessment in it," said Emil.
Architecture, continued Emil, is actually not only a matter of physical development, or related to a building. However, good architecture can support the development of human civilization.
Evidently the word Emil, a building that is made monumental, can increase the happiness. For example, opening state, and the design of building he had made in several places could be an attraction. So, it became a gathering place for people, and ultimately helped increase the index of happiness.
"As in Bandung, the land I abandoned makes a park, there is a place where I can't build a garden with interesting themes, that's where the happiness index of Bandung residents increases," he said.
Emil also revealed that in West Java, over the next five years there will be a lot of development work to be carried out.
For example, said Emil, structuring the coastal area, tourist area, and activation of the railway line.
"This requires creative design," he said.
Besides Emil as an individual, the architectural work of the Al-Irsyad Mosque in Kota Baru Parahyangan, with the concept of green building designed by Emil, also won an award as the best architectural work of IAI, the category of Worship Houses.
In addition, the IAI Award was also achieved by the Mayor of Makassar, Moh Ramdhan 'Danny' Pomanto, Surabaya Mayor Tri Risma Arini, and Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Aswar Anas.
This award is proposed by the IAI management through a code of ethics session for individuals for their efforts and real contribution in managing and improving architectural, environmental and urban quality.
