PT KAI Holds PORKA in Bandung

BANDUNG - Every two years, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) routinely holds Railroad Sports Week (PORKA). This year, PORKA 2018 with the slogan "Sportivity, Synergy, Achievement" was held on September 18-21 2018 at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI), Jl. Dr. Setiabudi No. 229 Bandung.

Approximately 1,002 KAI athletes from 15 contingents consisting of Operational Areas (Daop) 1 Jakarta to Daop 9 Jember and Regional Division (Divre) 1 North Sumatra to Divre 4 Tanjung Karang, Subsidiaries, and PT KAI Head Office. Seven sports will be competed in this PORKA 2018.

The seven sports are volleyball, badminton, chess, futsal, soccer, tennis, and table tennis. This PORKA activity was officially opened by PT KAI's Director of Human Resources and General, R. Ruli Adi on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the UPI Football Stadium.

In his opening speech, Director of Human Resources and General PT KAI Ruli Adi advised that this biennial event could be a means of gathering hospitality for employees from these regions. In addition, PORKA is organized as a means to hone sportsmanship and sports talent for employees in all PT KAI operations.

With the holding of this sports week, the Director of Human Resources and General PT KAI also hopes to foster a sense of ownership and love of the company, so that it can improve morale to improve service to train service users, and PORKA is also one of the 73rd Anniversary series of trains that falls on September 28 later.

At the KAI sporting event this time, PT KAI also had the opportunity to provide assistance for the development of public infrastructure and facilities for the construction of canteens and reforestation in the UPI Faculty of Sports and Health Education (FPOK) campus. The assistance worth a total of Rp 150 million was submitted directly by the Director of Human Resources and General PT KAI to the Dean of FPOK UPI, Prof. Dr. H. Adang Suherman, M.A.

"This assistance is a form of our concern for improving the quality of education in Indonesia. The construction of the faculty canteen was our target because FPOK UPI had not yet had an adequate canteen area for its students.

The campus canteen is expected to be able to meet the needs of FPOK UPI students for healthy and hygienic food without need for snacks outside the campus area. Meanwhile, for the greening of the FPOK campus area, we hope to make the learning atmosphere more enjoyable, so that later the FPOK UPI campus is able to produce educators who excel in the field of sports and health, "said R. Ruli Adi. (Jo)
