    West Java Records 17% Deflation in February


    Of the total 7 consumer price index (IHK) cities in West Java including Bandung, Bogor, Sukabumi, Cirebon, Bekasi, Tasikmalaya, and Depok were recorded declines the index. The IHK in January 2016 was recorded 121.74 become into 121.53 in February 2016. Therefore the deflation was recorded 0.17 percent.

    Head of BPS West Java Bachdi Rusmana, on Tuesday (1/3) while leading a press conference in his office said that the inflation rate in January-February 2016 was 0.41 percent and the inflation rate on February 2016 to February 2015 was recorded of 3.80 percent.

    "Of the 7 expenditure groups who had deflation ie Foodstuffs group by 0.87 percent, the Group of Housing, Water, Electricity,
    Fuel and Gas by 0.25 percent, and the Group of Transport, Communications and Financial Services by 0.20 percent. While the additional of expenditure group who had inflation were the group of Food, Beverages, Cigarettes and Tobacco by 0.55 percent, Clothing Group by 0.15 percent, Healthcare Group by 0.05 percent, and the Group of Education, Recreation and Sports by 0.01 percent," he said.

    IHK observation of the seven cities in West Java in January 2016, said that six cities who had deflation were Bogor by 0.02 percent, Bandung by 0.15 percent, Cirebon by 0.26 percent, Bekasi by 0.03 percent, Depok by 0.43 percent and Tasikmalaya by 0.31 percent. While Sukabumi had inflation of 0.03 percent.

    The foodstuffs group contributed as the highest deflation in February 2016 by 0.87 percent. While the subgroup who had the highest deflation were the spices group by 4.30 percent. The commodities who had been the highest deflation of this sub-group, were onions and pepper.
