BANDUNG - West Java is still a destination for foreign tourists. But the number of visitors depends on the international holiday season.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Java said that the arrival of foreign guests through Husein Sastranegara Airport in June 2018 was 6,401 people, a decrease of 37.95 percent compared to May 2018, which recorded 10,316 people.
The tourists who came through Cirebon Muarajati Harbor were all 92 crew members, down 22.03 percent compared to May 2018, which was 118 people.
Most tourists come to West Java with Malaysian and Singapore nationalities. In June 2018, Malaysian tourists (including crew) who came through Husein Sastranegara Airport as many as 3445 people. The number dropped 49.93 percent compared to May 2018 which reached 6,880 people.
"While the number of foreign tourists from Singapore (including crew) also dropped by 13.98 percent from 1,945 people in May 2018 to 1,673 people in June 2018," BPS Head of West Java Doddy Herlando said.
The total number of foreign tourists visiting West Java in June 2018 was 6,493 people, decreasing by 37.77 percent compared to May 2018 which reached 10,434 people.
In addition to foreign tourists from Singapore and Malaysia, foreign tourists from the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, China, Britain, Germany and France also experienced a decline, while foreign tourists from India, the United States, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia experienced an increase.
