    Room Occupancy Rate Decline in West Java

    BANDUNG-The hotel room occupancy rate in West Java decreased compared to the room occupancy rate of December 2015. The decrease was due to the decrease of room occupancy rate both in star-hotel and non-star hotel.

    It thus stated by Head of BPS West Java Province, Bachdi Ruswana in a meeting with members of press, Tuesday (1/03) at the BPS Office, Jl. PPH.Mustopa Bandung.

    According to Bachdi Ruswana, the hotel room occupancy rate in January 2015 reached 46.2% and non-star hotel reached 34.55%. While in December 2014, the hotel room occupancy rate recorded of 49.14% and non-star hotel room occupancy rate recorded of 35.13 %.

    The room occupancy rate in West Java on average in January 2016 amounted to 44.6%, which was down 3.00 points compared to December 2015 was recorded at 47.60 %. During the period on January 2015 until January 2016, TPK star hotel groups was always higher than the non-star hotel room occupancy rate.

    Star-hotel room occupancy rate in January 2016 decreased compared to December 2015. The overall decrease of room occupancy rate in January 2016 due to the lower of star-hotel room occupancy rate that quite significant, and contributed to the total of star-hotel room occupancy rate.

    The highest star-hotel room occupancy rate in January 2016 was at 5 star-hotel (68.77 percent), which followed by 2 star-hotel (58.47 percent) and 4 star-hotel (52.36 percent). The lowest of room occupancy rate was occurred in 1 star-hotel (24.61%).

    The average length of stay both in foreign and Indonesia, in star-hotels tend to longer stay than at the non-star hotel. The average length of stay in January 2016 was higher than in December 2015, ie for 1.46 days. When compared to the average length of stay in January 2015 was 1.36 days, while the average length of stay in January 2016 showed the higher rate.

    Furthermore Bachdi explained that in January 2016, the foreign guests staying longer at star-hotels than the non-star hotels, with an average length of stay for 3.33 days. While in the non-star hotels for 2.79 days. On the average length of stay at the hotel and non star in January 2015 of 3.28 days, higher than the average stay in December 2015. The same thing happened to the average length of stay in January 2016, where the average length of stay was 1.58 days in the hotel and 1.16 days in the non-star hotel. The average stay in January 2016 at the star and non-star hotel was 1.17 days, which much longer than the previous month.
