    Women Must Bring Peace


    BANDUNG - National Violence Monitoring System (SNPK) data shows that every month the number of violence and brawl increases, from January 2014 to November 2014 there are 94.483 the number of conflict and violence with the most vulnerable areas are East Java 28,021 times, Jabodetabek 23,252 times, Aceh 18,053 times, North Sumatra 17,057 times, West Kalimantan 16,482 times and Papua 14,866 times.

    Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Susana Yembise said women have a very important role in creating peace early in their families and according to the law, the government is mandated to provide basic, specific protection against women and children in the handling of social conflicts .

    "One of the countermeasures is that we set up a Working Group on Women and Children Empowerment in Social Conflict (P3AKS) in centers and conflict-prone areas, comprising Prevention, Treatment, Women Empowerment and Children's Participation," he said.

    Yohana also hopes that all relevant institutions will be able to improve the understanding of women, community organizations, officials or sectors on the protection and empowerment of women and children in social conflicts.
