BANDUNG - The government through the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) currently manages the pilgrim fund collected from prospective pilgrims worth Rp. 105 Trillion.
Acting Head of Haj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) Ministry of Religious Affairs Anggito Abimanyu said about 65 percent of the funds are deposited in the recipient bank of haj funds, especially Islamic banks, and about 35 percent managed in a profitable investment.
"This year, the investment is targeted to give a yield of around Rp 6.1 trillion," he said. Investments from Haj funds will also be enlarged and the results will be returned to pilgrims including pilgrims waiting, "he said in Bandung on Sunday night (20/5) .
He explained that the fund will add operational fund for hajj where every year it is needed operational fund of 12 trillion rupiah. Abimanyu targets by 2022, the investment returns can cover all operational costs of the pilgrimage. Thus, the cost of Hajj will be cheaper in the future.
Abimanyu added gradually investment funds will be increased, by reducing the haj funds saved in 31 recipients of the cost of hajj.
"Must be a maximum of 50 percent of funds combined Hajj, social to be invested in sharia and must be profitable," he said.
He also said he plans to invest Haj funds in Saudi Arabia. Currently there are about five investment proposals that will be explored starting next year, such as the field of transportation Hajj, lodging hajj, catering and others. (Jo)
