    West Java Cooperates with ITB in Increasing APK

    BANDUNG-Education is one of the most important and strategic agenda that needs attention of all parties. Therefore, education is a determining factor in the national progress in the future.

    West Java has five public universities judged unbalanced with its population of around 46 million inhabitants. By comparison the number of inhabitants and universities, the gross participation rate (APK) of the community involved in University in West Java is considered very low compared to other provinces in Indonesia.

    It is encouraging West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) for cooperation with many public universities in West Java related to the development of the university outside domicile. ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology) is one of the universities who carry out such cooperation.

    "We will continue to cooperate related to the development of university in West Java, in order to increase APK and the rate of universities participation. Inch Allah with the presence of many State- Owned Universities will raise enrolment in West Java,” said Aher after a meeting with the Rector of ITB and his staff at the Pakuan State House, Bandung on Tuesday (16/02/16)

    He also revealed that earlier cooperation has been carried out with ITB including cooperation at ITB Jatinangor, and next the cooperation will be held for campus development in Bekasi and Cirebon.

    Related to the land, Aher said that it had provided for the construction ITB campus in Bekasi and Cirebon.

    “The land in Cirebon of 18 hectares will planned to donate to the Research and Technology Ministry of Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti), then Kemenristek Dikti will hand the management rights to ITB, and Alhamdulillah, Bekasi Regent also would grant 40 hectares," said Aher.
