Bulog Start to Do Harvest Absorption

BANDUNG - Rice harvest has started to occur in some areas in West Java (West Java). But at this time the price of paddy or grain at the farm level is still high enough so that absorption by Bulog Perum Still not maximal.

Head of West Java Bulog Mentoba Sugit Tedjo said that currently the average absorption of rice or paddy reaches 500 to 1000 tons per day.

"If it has begun to harvest highway, a day can be up to 5000 tons per day, possibly starting third week of March it has entered the harvest highway in some areas in West Java," he said.

Currently, some areas that have started to harvest include Ciamis, Cianjur and Indramayu and surrounding areas. According to Sugit, the harvest will continue until May, where the peak will occur in late March and April.

However, he admitted that Bulog has difficulty absorbing rice because the price is still high above the government price. The government sets the price between Rp4,800 to Rp5000 per kg. But the fact the price is above Rp6000 per kg.

On the other hand, the condition of grain sold is still too wet so the results are not too good. "The rainy season may make drying difficult, of course affect the quality of grain," he said. jo
