    Bio Farma Supplies 70 Percent Needs of World Vaccine


    BANDUNG, - Bio Farma vaccine has spread over 130 countries in the world. Even Bio Farma has been able to supply 70 percent of the world's vaccine needs.

    This was revealed by the Director of Bio Farma M Rahman Rustan when receiving a visit of 4 Ambassadors in heritage building Bio Farma, Bandung, Monday (19/2/2018)

    The four Ambassaders of the Republic of Indonesia include the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia including Octavino Alimudin, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Iran and Turkmenistan representing the Middle East Region, Amhar Azeth, Ambassador to Romania representing Regional Europe, Sudirman Haseng, Ambassador to Cambodia representing Southeast Asia Region and Estella Anwar Bey, for Peru representing Regional Latin America. Four Ambassadors were present after following the RAKER 132 Ambassador.

    Rahman said although so far, it still get a lot of help from the Ambassador of Indonesia in several countries. However, Bio Farma desperately needs advice, discussion and support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the ambassadors of Indonesia in exploring other potentials.

    In addition to supply vaccine cooperation, Bio Farma also want to explore the potential of research cooperation or production cooperation that can be synergized with friendly countries.

    "If we work together before through UNICEF, we hope that this meeting will facilitate access to bilateral cooperation because of the assistance of the Ambassadors," Rahman explained.

    Rahman added that the most potential to be explored is herbal products considering the potential for biodiversity or biodiversity for herbal products in Indonesia is quite large.

    "We focus on biotechnology products, so for the cooperation of herbal products we want to invite 3 other SOEs namely Indofarma, Kimia Farma, and Phapros," said Rahman

    Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Iran and Turkmenistan representing the Middle East Region, Octavino Alimudin said representing each region, it can receive information directly about the efforts that have been done Bio Farma.

    He considered the position of Indonesia as a producer of vaccine and serum is highly recognized by the world, even a new market potential for Indonesia through Bio Farma.

    "This can really help us to be able to re-establish and pioneer everything that would be beneficial for both parties," said Octavino

    He added that in the future there will be formal cooperation, either in the form of MoU or other contracts, or something to be obtained from each region Country. In addition, the ambassador will seek what potential can be explored from the country.
