    President Opens Gelora Gelora Bung Karno Renovation


    BANDUNG-President Joko Widodo, Tuesday (23/1) afternoon, inaugurated the renovation of Istana Sports Palace (Istora) Gelora Bung Karno. The renovation of the former building called Istora Senayan has been started since September 2016 and completed in December.

    Upon entering the renovated building, the Head of State admitted very surprised to see it. Moreover, he considered that the renovation is done as if returning to the original face of the building he remembered the 60's.

    It was revealed in a release received jabarprov.go.id, Tuesday (23/1) night from the Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of the President.

    "I was really surprised to come here, there was a total change from Istora from the previous situation," he said on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

    The return of Istora to the early building after the renovation refers to the condition in which Istora Building preened to welcome the 1962 Asian Games. Incidentally, the renovation of Istora is also intended to welcome the same event this year.

    "This is a major renovation that really changes the Bung Karno Gelora Istora we use for sports venues or other venues," he continued.

    Despite returning to its original face, Istora appears to be supported with the latest facilities. No exception with the technology that was carried to support the game in the building.

    "By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, in the name of Allah Almighty, renovation Istora Gelora Bung Karno I officially open," he concluded.

    Also present was accompanying the President, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Chief of Staff of President Moeldoko and Chairman of KOI / Chairman INASGOC Erick Thohir.
