JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Jusuf Kalla released humanitarian aid to be given to Rohingnya residents who are currently still displaced in neighboring Bangladesh.
Jokowi said the aid in the form of food and medicine is a form of high concern for the Government of Indonesia against the humanitarian crisis that occurred in Southeast Asia.
"The aid given is very much needed by the refugees. The refugees who number hundreds of thousands are in need of a helping hand from Indonesia but also other countries," said Jokowi, when looking directly at the ready assistance in the runway of Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Jakarta , Wednesday (24/01).
According to Jokowi, the delivery of humanitarian aid also shows that the Government of Indonesia is consistent with humanitarian and peace issues, especially those experienced by Rohingnya refugees.
"Humanitarian aid to Rohingnya refugees is also a form of implementation of the spirit of One ASEAN One Response in the context of disaster management in Southeast Asia," he said. (Parno)
