BANDUNG-The type of diesel fuel called B20 officially launched by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in Bandung. The launch was conducted at the Pertamina office in West Java by Edhi Wibowo, head of sub directorate and supervision of Business Services Bio Energy Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy conservation, in front of the gas station entrepreneurs and academics, Thursday (4/2).
According to Edhi, B20 is a blend of 80% regular diesel, 20% Biodiesel from palm oil.
“It has been tested with road tests to several cities in Java, and the last trial will be conducted in Merak Banten and Bali," he said.
B20 is an improvement in fuel for diesel engines, in efforts to reduce fossil fuel-based, replaced with vegetable.
“It will continue to develop its palm oil mixture to peak at more than 30 percent in 2030,” he said.
Thus, we can continue to reduce dependence on fossil-based fuels that will run out, while the vegetable oils such as palm oil able to be renewable,” he said.
From the test results was proved no problems faced by using B20 fuel. According to Edhi, BBM B20 has been distributed to retail outlets to replace diesel.
