BANDUNG-President Joko Widodo confirmed West Java International Airport (BIJB) in Kecamatan Kertajati, Majalengka Regency, to operate by mid 2018. This airport is one of three airports in West Java which will be developed by the government other than in Tasikmalaya ie Wiriadinata and Sukabumi Airport.
This was conveyed by a man who is familiarly called Jokowi when giving his speech at 51st Anniversary Celebration of Siliwangi Youth (AMS) at Gedung Merdeka, Jalan Asia Afrika, Bandung, Thursday, December 28, 2017.
"I would like to say that by mid 2018, God willing, the new Airport in Kertajati will be completed and we will use it," said Jokowi.
According to Kertajati Airport is a new airport that can encourage the mobility of people and goods in West Java. Just to be known, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Tangerang and Husein Sastranegara Airport Bandung is now so busy serving the flow of air traffic every day.
So that the presence of Kertajati Airport which is called as the second largest airport in Indonesia can be a solution of density crackers and as a buffer of two airports in Tangerang and Bandung.
"This is a very large airport and will also be very useful to encourage the mobility of goods and people teutama located in West Java.We hope here can really move our economy," said the head of this country who was applauded.
Just to be known, Kertajati Airport which will operate mid 2018 will indeed be equipped with a special area of ??Aerocity. Standing above 3,400 ha or twice that of the airport, this will be the center of new economic growth.
Until December 24, 2017, Kertajati Airport itself has expressed readiness to operate next year where the progress of construction for the land side has reached 84.5 percent.
"Related progress to the land side, up to 24 December has reached 84.45 percent," said Director of PT BIJB Virda Dimas Ekaputra in Bandung.
Development for the land side where PT BIJB became the executor of this development, divided into three packages of workmanship. These packages include infrastructure works such as terminals, roads and other support such as BMKG, Pertamina, and fire safety devices.
Shifting to the readiness of the runway which will be expanded to 3,500 meters x 60 meters by the Ministry of Transportation is currently progressing more than 90 percent. With the length of the runway confirmed that the presence of BIJB projected to be hajj airport in 2018 can be landed wide-bodied aircraft.
