    3,000 Disability Athletes Follow The Asian Games 2018

    BANDUNG-Indonesia was chosen to host the 2018 Asian Para Games (APG). Around 3,000 athletes with disabilities and officials from 43 Asian member countries of the Asian Paralympic Committee will compete for eight days.

    "18 sports with 582 match numbers will be overhauled for eight days from 6 to 13 October next year," said APG 2018 Committee Chairman Nur Cahyadi on Saturday (23/12/2017)

    Cahyadi said that as the 2018 Asian Games already started a variety of preparation activities, so did Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) which is currently doing some preparation phase for APG 2018.

    "Preparation also includes socialization, as it is currently being implemented at 20 points in 16 cities in Indonesia," said Cahyadi

    He added that socialization conducted in 20 points in 16 cities, is an early socialization. Because until the implementation of APG in 2018, INAPGOC will continue to inform the people of Indonesia about APG 2018.

    "So later the public knowledge about APG 2018 higher and then interested to appreciate this activity by watching directly or indirectly," explained Cahyadi.

    In addition, the Asian Para Games will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Senayan complex, the appointment of Indonesia as the host of APG 2018 is also expected to leave a legacy, both physical and non-physical.

    "Indonesia is the first country in Southeast Asia selected to host the Asian Para Games, and this opportunity becomes one of the implementations of Law no. 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities, "said Cahyadi.

    Preparation stage that is currently underway is the improvement of sports facilities and athlete's dormitory utilizing existing facilities in Kemayoran area.

    "Some renovations will be done to meet every game needs that match the needs of atats, such as elevators and bathrooms that can be easily accessed by wheelchairs," he concluded. (MAT)
