State Defense Day 2017, Aher: State Defense, Jihad, and 'Fardhu Ain'

BANDUNG-Right on this day, December 19, 2017, the nation of Indonesia is commemorating the State Defense (HBN) which is held simultaneously in all corners of the country.

At the momentum of the State Defense Day this year, the ceremony commemorated the State Defense Day of West Java Province in 2017, at the Gedung Sate Bandung yard, Tuesday (19/12/2017) morning.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowi Widodo (Jokowi), through the mandate read by West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan, invites all Indonesian people to always learn from the history of the nation's struggle.

Jokowi explained that the Republic of Indonesia can stand upright as a sovereign nation can not be separated from the spirit of defending the country from all the people's power.

"History has also noted that defending the country is not only done by force of weapons, but also by every citizen with his conscience to defend the country in any form," Jokowi said in his message.

At the moment of celebration of State Defense Day this time, jokowi invites the community to take real action in defending the country.

For example, in entering this millennium era, of course the challenges and threats to the sovereignty of the state, territorial integrity and the safety of the whole nation are no longer traditional or military threats, but they are multidimensional in every line of life.

Therefore, the form of actualization of love to the homeland or patriotism and nationalism is certainly much different from the era of the struggle of the nation's predecessors.

"The ease and sophistication of access to internet digitization in the millennium century has great potential to influence the human mindset including a variety of information and understandings that can change the morals and personality of a nation," he said.

Therefore Jokowi asks the whole society, especially the millenial youth as the majority of Indonesia, to always be critical of the effort to divide the nation, degrade the nation and always be alert to the infiltration of ideology in a very subtle and contemporary way that wants to change or replace Pancasila and wants divide the NKRI.

    'Hubbul Wathan Minal Faith'

West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) said the young generation is a leader in the future, which must play a role and proud of its Indonesiaan.

"That is part of the true form of Bela Negara in the present era." The challenge now is how these young Indonesians are increasing the quality of sacrifices to the nation and the country faced with the shape and nature of the modern threat, "Governor Aher said after the ceremony.

So the core of the nation's defending ceremony Aher said, is to invite all nations to embody the real state defending.

"We love the country is the demands of the homeland, the demands of humanity, even religious demands," said Aher.

From the side of spirituality, said Aher, history records the loyalty of the scholars and the santri to the nation of Indonesia has never cracked even in an emergency situation.

Aher called the early clerics in the struggle for independence, voicing the "Resolution of Jihad" in defending the homeland of the invaders' invasions, and its allies.

Aher recalled, the resolution of jihad managed to blend together the people to defend the country with all what they have including his life.

Historically it was also recorded, several months after the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence, on August 17, 1945, the Dutch colonial government through the Netherlands Indies Civil Administration (NICA) tried to reestablish its colonization mission in the country by riding Allied soldiers.

Faced with the situation, KH Hasyim Asy'ari, along with other scholars throughout Java and Madura, gathered in Surabaya on 21- 22 October 1945. The clerics then declared war to defend independence as a holy war, otherwise known as 'jihad.'

"In the resolution of jihad, defending the Fatherland the law is 'fardhu ain' for every Muslim in Indonesia," Aher said.

In the resolution of jihad, it is also asserted that Muslims within a radius of 94 km from the center of the battle must go to war against the Dutch.

"The Resolution of Jihad KH Hasyim Asy'ari is one of the defending countries which becomes the determining factor of whether or not Indonesia's independence will continue," Aher explained.
