BANDUNG-National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) noted the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that shook the southern part of West Java on Friday (15/12) at 23:47 pm has caused the death toll and damage to thousands of buildings.
According to the Head of BNPB Information and Public Relations Data Center, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, the most severely damaged areas are found in 4 areas in West Java, namely Tasikmalaya City, Tasikmalaya Regency, Ciamis Regency and Pangandaran Regency.
"This area is closest to the epicenter of the earthquake so the intensity of the quake is felt V-VI MMI (moderate to strong)," Sutopo said, through the release received www.Jabarprov.go.id, Sunday (17/12).
Sutopo said the regents and mayors in these four regions have set the status of emergency response situation for 7 days from Saturday (16/12) to Friday (22/12), which can be extended according to the situation in the field.
"For emergency handling and reconstruction, 4 areas affected by the earthquake set an emergency response," he said.
Based on the data, in Tasikmalaya Regency there were 1,362 damaged houses consisting of 192 heavily damaged houses, 76 moderately damaged houses and 1,094 lightly damaged houses.
In Kabupaten Ciamis there are 759 damaged homes consisting of 117 heavily damaged houses, 239 moderately damaged houses, and 403 houses slightly damaged.
While in Pangandaran Regency there are 320 damaged houses covering 60 heavily damaged, 75 moderate damage, and 185 minor damages. (Parno)
