BANDUNG-West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) agrees with the central government, which strongly condemns the unilateral recognition of the United States (US) to make Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
"We also ask the US to reconsider the decision, as well as to injure the Muslim community of the world, also clearly violate various Security Council resolutions and the United Nations General Assembly that the United States even became its permanent members," he said in Bandung on Friday (8/12/2017).
According to him, with various conditions that many torn earlier, it can automatically shake the stability of world security. Especially in the Middle East that without this incident too, is likely to heat.
"From Bandung, the capital of West Java province, the city of Asia-Africa's independence bearer, We strongly reject the US decision", he continued.
Aher said he was consistent to continue with the Palestinian people in fighting for their independence and rights in accordance with the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution.
According to him, it believes the efforts and diplomacy steps that have been and continue to be done by the central government. Like the Government of Indonesia that has communicated with Islamic countries (OIC) for OIC to hold a special session on the matter of one-sided recognition, as well as ask the United Nations immediately meet the US unilateral confession.
"We support President Jokowi's efforts related to this matter, which among others has ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs to summon the US Ambassador to directly convey the attitude of the Government of Indonesia." Hopefully, a peaceful condition will be achieved in the future, "he concluded.
Earlier President Joko Widodo said Indonesia strongly criticized the decision of the United States government to recognize unilaterally Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel. This was stated at the Presidential Palace of Bogor, West Java, on Thursday, December 7, 2017.
"Indonesia strongly condemns the unilateral recognition of the United States against Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and asks the United States to reconsider the decision," he said.
The Head of State also said the unilateral recognition violated various Security Council resolutions and the UN General Assembly. The United States itself is known to be a permanent member of the UN Security Council as well as a founding member of the United Nations.
"This could destabilize the security of the world," said the President.
On the occasion, President Joko Widodo once again affirmed the attitude taken by the Indonesian government on Palestine. Indonesia will continue to support the independence struggle perpetrated by the Palestinian people.
