Minister of Trade Guarantees Basic Needs during Christmas and New Year are Safe

BANDUNG-The government anticipates soaring demand for basic needs during Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebrations. Even guaranteed, as of December 1 staple food supplies have been distributed to all regions in Indonesia.

Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said the current stock and distribution of basic needs are still very safe, if there is a price increase is still considered reasonable because it has not been too high.

"Stocks and turnover to date are still normal, there are several commodities but I am still tolerant," he said after monitoring the price of basic food at Kosambi Market on Monday (4/11).

He said the price increase occurred in chicken meat, but according to him it is because there is a price increase from the farmers. Nevertheless the increase is still tolerated.

"Previously it is far from it, now stock a lot so the price has gone down .. Rise a little because of the breeders," he added.

Likewise with rice, the price is still relatively stable even down. From the location of Bulog Market Operation in Kosambi, Minister Enggar even stated if the medium price of rice Rp 9,300 per kg sold actually has good quality, even tends to be included as premium rice.

"But I still ask Bulog to conduct market operations, so that the stock of rice and meat are safe, price stabilization should continue," he said.

He even requested that Bulog also sell their packaged rice to stores, not just during market operations. Jo
