BANDUNG-During January to November 2017 Rumah Zakat has deployed 859 volunteers to help disaster-affected people throughout Indonesia. BNPB recorded at least 2,057 disaster events occurred in Indonesia in the period January-20 November 2017. Disasters that occur such as floods, volcano eruptions, tornadoes, landslides, and fires.
"Currently, the team of volunteers is doing the action at least in 7 cities affected by the disaster that is in Yogyakarta, Pacitan, East Lombok, Kapuas Hulu, Lampung, Sidoarjo, and Bali. We will continue to standby in the disaster area until things really improve, "said Herlan Wilandariansyah, Coordinator of Rumah Zakat Volunteer Center.
To this day, Tuesday (05/12) Rumah Zakat volunteers are still in the flooded location of Pacitan to help residents clean the house and other public facilities. A total of 20 volunteers from Kediri are deployed to help the people of Pacitan.
Besides helping to clean houses, volunteers also distribute two large sacks of clothing worth wearing. "Given that their goods are damaged and even drift, people still need additional logistical support such as clothes, foodstuffs, hygiene kits, clean water and medicines," said Zainal, Rumah Zakat volunteer.
During January to November 2017, Rumah Zakat has distributed aid in 83 disaster points across Indonesia and assisted approximately 71,929 people affected by the disaster. In a national disaster response action throughout 2017, Rumah Zakat has distributed 28,894 basic food packages, 6,032 parcels of children and adult equipment and hygiene kits, 700 health services and psychosocial assistance, emergency schools to sanitation and clean water programs.
