BANDUNG-A number of locations in Indonesia have potential as a geopark, including one in West Java, namely Ciletuh-Palabuhan Ratu in Sukabumi Regency.
To develop and protect geoparks that will become geoheritage, the Geological Agency issues technical guidelines for the assessment of geological heritage resources. At the launch which took place at the office of Geology Agency Diponegoro Street Bandung, there are geopark managers throughout Indonesia and other participants.
Acting Head of the Geological Agency Rida Mulyana said the Geological Agency as a central institution in charge of geology has tried to identify and clarify every geological heritage based on scientific value, education and tourism.
"Currently developing a geodiversity inventory management system, technical guidance on geoheritage assessment and geoheritage information system," he said on Wednesday (15/11).
He asserted, with this launch showing that Geological Agency is committed to identify and clarify every geological heritage including by providing geoheritage data and information for geopark development in Indonesia. jo
