BANDUNG-Revoking 10 percent value-added tax (PPN) on beef imports by the Central Government’s policy, has succeed to recover the beef price return to normal.
Chairman of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) Syarkawi Ma'Ruf said even though it’s not directly back on the normal price, but it has decreased gradually.
"From the monitoring shown the beef prices have been gradually decreased from the range of Rp 120.000-130.000,- per kilogram becoming to Rp 110.000,- per kilogram,” he said in Bandung, Sunday morning (24/1) after conducting sudden inspections together with Governor Ahmad Heryawan to Cihaurheulis traditional markets, Bandung.
Syarkawi promised that KPPU will continue to monitor the beef price, which is not only in Bandung but also in several major cities in Indonesia.
"This is not just in Bandung, but also in major cities in Indonesia such as Surabaya. These high price issues could have been caused by unfair competition,” he said.
