    Jokowi Named Nurtanio for N 219 Made in PTDI and LAPAN

    BANDUNG - Located at Base Ops, Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force, Halim Perdanakusuma Road, DKI Jakarta, Friday (10/11), the first N219 aircraft prototype by PTDI and LAPAN was given by the President of Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo.

    President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo gave the name of Nurtanio to the prototype of N219 aircraft.

    The philosophy behind the naming of Nurtanio on the prototype of N219 aircraft because Air Rear Admiral (Posthumous) Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo has pioneered the manufacture of aircraft in the homeland since 1946.

    Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo is known as one of the pioneers of the establishment of aircraft industry working in the Bureau of Aircraft Planner Construction in the Army of the Republic of Indonesia based in Madiun which is the embryo of the birth of aerospace industry in Indonesia.

    The event was given by the Minister of Research of Technology and Higher Education, Mohamad Nasir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Rini Soemarno, Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, Air Force Chief of Staff, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Metro Jaya Police Chief , Inspector General of Police Idham Azis, Commander of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force, Marsma TNI Fadjar Prasetyo, Head of LAPAN, Thomas Djamaluddin, and Director of PTDI, Elfien Goentoro and all members of the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners of PTDI.

    The long history of the establishment of PTDI can not be separated from the history of the establishment of the Air Force. In 1946 the Bureau of Aircraft Construction Planners was established in the Army of the Republic of Indonesia based in Madiun which was then transferred to Andir (now Husein Sastranegara) in Bandung.

    The results of the design include Zogling type aircraft, Nurtanio, Wiweko Glider (NWG) and in 1948 made Wiweko Experimental Light Plane (WEL X). Jo
