BANDUNG-The tourism industry will become the foundation of the country's economy. In 2016 with the target of foreign tourist arrivals reaching 12 million will absorb 11,700 workers and generate foreign exchange amounting to Rp172, 8 trillion. This year tourism is estimated to potentially generate foreign exchange amounting to Rp450 trillion.

Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan-RB) Asman Abnur said if this development is not matched by good manpower capability then the utilization of tourism potential will only provide opportunities for foreign workers.

"This is a good thing we need to pay attention, considering that this tourism sector will become the foundation of the Indonesian economy in the future," Asman told reporters at the NHI campus in Bandung on Monday (6/11/2017)

Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform explains the potential of Indonesian tourism every year has increased significantly. Year 2013 Indonesia is in position to 70 then rose to the 50th position in 2015. And again managed to rise in position 42 in 2016. But the position of Indonesia is still below Thailand and Malaysia.

Asman mentions when compared with other countries. Indonesia actually has a very big potential but weakness Indonesia is less clever to present the potential of tourism industry is a destination of foreign tourists visit.

"Indonesia's tourism potential is very much but unfortunately we can not serve it well," said Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform.

To pursue this backwardness, the government is building strategic infrastructure projects to facilitate access for tourism industry development and other sectors.

"One of them is the development of international airport because the average of foreign tourists come in through the air," he concluded. (MAT)
