MAKASAR -West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher) was awarded the title of honorary citizen of South Sulawesi Province under the name I Baji Pau Daeng Makana. The award was held by South Sulawesi Governor Syachrul Yasin Limpo during the 438th anniversary ceremony of South Sulawesi Province, Central Sulawesi Province of Makassar, on Thursday (19/10).
In addition to Aher, there are also 12 other figures who received the same title, including Bogor Mayor Bima Arya.
After the event, Ahmad Heryawan expressed his appreciation of the honorary title.
"I accept and appreciate this title not only the honor of myself but also the people of West Java," he said.
Aher said, good relations between West Java and South Sulawesi have lasted very long, even from the Dutch colonial period first.
"There is a lot of mixed marriages between Sunda and the tribes in South Sulawesi, such as Bugis, Mandar, Makasar, etc. Even Sunda literary figures used to blend, namely Daeng Kanduruan Ardiwinata or DK Ardiwinata.This proves that the friendship of South Sulawesi and West Java is not recently new "he explained.
Aher hopes, fraternity of South Sulawesi and West Java can continue to live until whenever to help each other as fellow members of Unitary State of Indonesia.
West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan next December also plans to invite South Sulawesi Governor Yasin Limpo come to West Java to follow the event Ngopi Saraosna or coffee festival at Gedung Sate. (Even)
