BANDUNG-Ambassador of Indonesia to Algeria accompanied by Algerian Ambassador and a delegation of pharmaceutical entrepreneurs from Algeria visit Bio Farma on Saturday, October 14, 2017. The group led by Ambassador of Indonesia to Algeria, Safira Machrusah bring 15 delegates, among others Algerian Governor Setif Algerian Chamber of Commerece and Industry (KADIN Algeria) Setif Province, and some Algerian pharmaceutical entrepreneurs. The group was received directly by Bio Farma Marketing Director, Rahman Rustan.
In his speech, Safira Machrusah, said "The purpose of the visit to Bio Farma to discuss the potential cooperation that can be established between the government of Setif Province with Bio Farma. This is in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo, and Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita, who advises to increase export potential and non-traditional market cooperation. In addition, because of the interest of Algerian pharmaceutical entrepreneurs who come to Indonesia to synergize in the field of health, especially the procurement of vaccines.
Meanwhile, Bio Farma Director Rahman Rustan said, "The Islamic State needs a vaccine for a national immunization program in its country from fellow member states of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC). In addition to prioritizing the need for domestic vaccines, for the markets of Islamic countries, we have exported products to about 50 Islamic countries including Algeria, through UNICEF, already exported vaccines to Algeria, Polio, Measles and Tetanus Diphtheria,
Rahman added that in addition to vaccine procurement cooperation, in the future, there is potential for research collaboration from the downstream process, or final product scheme continued with technology transfer, depending on the ability of the Islamic state. And Algeria has potential resources for the cooperation of developing new vaccines.
During the visit, Algiers Provincial Governor Nacer Maskri wanted a win-win synergy with Indonesia, and was interested in providing vaccines in African countries close to Algeria.
In addition to visiting Bio Farma, a group from Algeria also visited West Java Provincial Government. A visit was made to build possible cooperation between two provincial governments and their Chambers of Commerce (KADIN), especially in the fields of trade, industry, tourism, and others. Previously, the Algerian delegation visited the exhibition of Bio Farma's flagship exporter in the ongoing Trade Expo Indonesia event in Jakarta on 11-15 October 2017 held by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia.
