Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly: There needs to be Regulation Improvement

BANDUNG- The rise of hand operation (OTT) conducted by Corruption Eradication Commission (Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi / KPK) to regional head and council members get response from the Chairman of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan.

According to Zulkifli, there needs to be a revamping of regulations including the regional election (Pilkada) system to prevent corruption from recurring.

The occurrence of corruption practices can not be separated because there are still unscrupulous officials who put money or material first.

"The six heads of regions affected by the OTT are not yet members of the DPR, the courts, prosecutors, this should be changed our constitutional system including the existence of money politics in the elections," Zulkifli said at the Pasundan University campus in Bandung on Wednesday (11/10/2017).

In fact, said Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly, the position earned in the momentum of the election is a mandate. His side hoped not to replace the first precepts, Belief in God Almighty replaced with Finance Almighty.

According to Zulkifli, if there is no revision related to regulation and electoral system, then corruption is feared to be repeated. In the life of democracy in Indonesia, should be given political education that everything is not only measured by money. Meanwhile, law enforcement is expected to be completely just for the sake of democracy improvement.

"We fix the laws and then give education to the public, not all measured with money, let us return to the noble value of Indonesiaan," he concluded. (MAT)
