BANDUNG-West Java Legislative Council (DPRD) Chairman Ineu Purwadewi Sundari said the draft regulation (Raperda) initiated by West Java Parliament on Protection and Empowerment of Fishermen is important to West Java, particularly to raise the welfare of coastal fishermen in West Java.
"We want to increase the fishermen’s welfare. So that with the existence of this regulation, hopefully it’s useful for fishermen in West Java,” said ineu, after attending the Plenary Session of West Java Parliament related to the discussion of the draft law on the Protection and Empowerment of Fishermen, Bandung, on Monday (18/1).
Regarding to the discussion of the draft law initiated by West Java DPRD on the Protection and Empowerment of Fishermen, Ineu said it currently has formed a Special Committee on discussion the draft law.
"The law has mandated it for a long time, but parliament has just proposed this law. Today the Special Committee has been formed. We hope that what the needs of fishermen communities can be covered in these legislation. West Java Provincial Government is very concerned or extremely respect to the protection and empowerment of fishermen in West Java,” she concluded
