    West Java Will Hold International Surfing


    BANDUNG-Provincial Government of West Java through Tourism and Culture Department (Disbudpar) West Java Province will hold an international surf event with the title of Amazing Geopark Adventure Tourism (AGAT) with the theme "Cimaja Geosurf Challenge, Our Amazing Adventure", which will be held on Cimaja Beach, Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Area, Sukabumi Regency, West Java on 14-15 October 2017.

    The Amazing Exhibition of Geopark Adventure Tourism 2017 (AGAT) will be attended by 14 international pro surfers from USA, Australia, Italy, UK, Japan, Canada, Maldives, Morocco, Philippines, Singapore, New Zealand, Thailand and Taiwan; 14 national surfers from Bali, Banten, Bengkulu, DKI Jakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Yogyakarta and West Java as organizers.

    In addition, AGAT followed by 35 surfer advance from the regional arena of West Java with the majority of surfers from Sukabumi Regency. Not to forget the area that has the potential to develop surfing in Geopark Ciletuh Palabuhanratu of 21 villages in 8 sub-districts will send participants to get coaching clinic and surf school classes as their provision to develop surfing in their area.

    Head of West Java Tourism and Culture Department, Ida Hernida explained West Java provincial government continues to realize its support for achievement commitment as UNESCO Global Geopark (UGG) for Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu (GCP).

    Ida explains one of the efforts to promote Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu to the world, this time with the "Cimaja Geosurf Challenge, Our Amazing Adventure".

    "Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu has a worldwide surfing spot, the Seven Waves and Cimaja Beach," he told reporters in Bandung on Monday (2/3/2017)

    In addition, there are also other surf spots with beach break types Cipaku (Ujunggenteng), Loji Beach Break, Citepus, Karang Naya (Samudra Beach), Coral Beach (Sunset Beach), and Karanghawu.

    While the type of break point waves are: Haurber Point (Ujunggenteng), Mama's Point (Ujunggenteng), Turtle Beach (Ujunggenteng), Seven Waves, Loji Point, Karang Sari, Cimaja, Indocator, Pajagan Point, and Karang Haji.

    "Cimaja Beach has a unique beach attraction in the form of alluvial alloys with natural oval-round rocks along the coast, besides Cimaja Beach also has a break point wave with wave continuity throughout the year that can spoil the surfers," said Ida

    Cimaja Beach is located in Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu area has a beautiful panorama plus a great wave make this place so favorite among surfers, both nationally and internationally.

    Foreign surfers regularly arrive and support the tourism Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu.

    Another attraction is the achievement of surfing at Pantai Cimaja has reached the international level with the presence of Dede Suryana as a regional son who managed to bring the good name of Indonesia in the world surfing event, the international network has also able to lift the special interest tourism Cimaja surf.

    Institutionally, the implementation of surfing in Cimaja also has good governance with the community of Sukabumi Surfing Association (SSA).

    Ida said that the main objective of AGAT 2017 is to introduce Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu as one of the world's special interest tourism destinations, as well as to prepare the community to be able to manage tourism in Geopark Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu with the principle of environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism management.

    Through this event will be appointed especially surfboard tour (surfing). The implementation of AGAT 2017 has the principle of managing the activities of which 80% of it is raising the local potential, both in the event content, local cultural arts, and community involvement.
