    Aher: Shark Catfish Have High Economic Value


    BANDUNG-Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan said in addition to having a delicious taste, shark catfish also have a very high economic value.

    West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) establishes a funnel system in cultivation of shark catfish. With this system shark catfish breeding produces 27 million seeds.

    "In the old way, one breeding unit was only able to produce a breeding of 0.9 million catfish, now with a funnel system technology of 27 million seedlings, so I think it needs to be caught as an economic opportunity through a technological approach," explained West Java Governor to journalist in Gedung Sate, Bandung, Friday (29/09/2017).

    Aher said shark catfish breeding is relatively fast when compared with other types of fish. The contribution of shark catfish from West Java to the national reaches 850 million seeds from a total of 1.7 trillion heads.

    People outside West Java can also cultivate the seeds of shark catfish from Pasundan land.

    "Although breeding in Batam, Kalimantan, shark catfish seeds mostly from West Java," said the Governor.

    Kang Aher greeting Governor of West Java hopes shark catfish seeds are not only in West Java alone but the community was in addition to enjoying the processed food is also able to cultivate it easily. For that, West Java provincial government wants to put forward the consumption of shark catfish so that people of West Java love to eat fish.

    "Normally this fish can be half a kilogram but in fact there was up to 12 kilograms," he concluded. (MAT)
