BANDUNG-West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati Majalengka, is expected to be directly used for the departure and arrival of pilgrims in 2018.
According to West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan (Aher), the expectation came after he held a special meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan some time ago.
"In essence, the central government is very committed to help accelerate the completion of the airport development," he said at Gedung Sate, Tuesday (5/9).
In the meeting, according to Aher, Luhut also conveyed about the plan to increase the length of runway or BIJB runway requiring land acquisition along the 300 meters.
"It is additional and Insya Alloh ready for us to release land along the 300 meters as the addition of runway length until the total length more than three thousand meters" he explained.
According to Aher, the completion of the airport in 2018 is a plan of phase 1 or one session with 1 runway, while the future plan will still be added to 2 runways in the next session development. (Pun)
