BANDUNG-Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas in collaboration with School of Staff and Police Leaders (SESPIMPOL) and Belantara Foundation conducted tree planting activities in Lembang, Bandung, West Java. On this occasion APP Sinar Mas provides 1,600 tree seedlings to be planted in critical land areas to prevent landslide disaster in the hilly area of the SESPIMPOL complex.
APP Sinar Mas Director Suhendra Wiriadinata said the location of selected plantations is located in critical land areas, with the aim of strengthening the land in the area to prevent landslides. In addition, to maintain the source of springs in Maribaya area.
"We welcome the initiative undertaken in the prevention of landslide disasters through planting trees on this critical land, hopefully this good intention can be an inspiration to restore critical areas of land and forests in Indonesia," he told reporters on Tuesday (29/8 / 2017).
APP Sinar Mas also holds volunteers from the Tatar Sunda Water Rescue Movement (JAGASEKE) as the executor of tree planting activities. In addition to establishing good relationships with local communities, JAGASEKE also inspires care to maintain the springs in Bandung.
Through the support given in environmental greening activities in various regions of Indonesia, APP Sinar Mas is hoping to cultivate community awareness to the environment. Thus, the community can contribute actively to the preservation and protection of forests in Indonesia through household scale spread throughout Indonesia.
Previously in April 2016, APP Sinar Mas together with the University of Education Indonesia (UPI) has also been doing tree planting activities in the Protected Forest Area Sukawarna area Lembang Bandung. This tree planting activity is carried out in degraded land of land and forest fires.
