    West Java Provincial Government Supports Construction of Cirebon-Semarang Natural Gas Pipeline


    BANDUNG-West Java Provincial Government supports the development and distribution plan of Cirebon-Semarang gas transmission pipeline run by PT Rekayasa Industri and PT Energi Negeri Mandiri (ENM).

    Assistant for the Economy and Development of West Java Provincial Secretariat, Eddy Iskandar Muda Nasution, said this is in line with the energy development plan in West Java. The reason, the utilization of natural gas for fuel needs of power plants, transportation, household and industrial raw materials.

    The existence of the project West Java provincial government welcomes other great opportunities that will appear after the implementation of the project through the Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) including for the benefit of the people of West Java.

    "This pipe is a transmission that connects from west to east for gas supply needs in Java Island Until now the process has reached Cirebon," he told reporters in Bandung, Tuesday (29/8/2017).

    According to Eddy, this pipeline will deliver 350-500 million million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) gas, which later on with this gas flow, the industries in Central Java and West Java will grow, which will have a positive impact on the economy of the people.

    "The existence of the pipe will meet the gas needs in West Java and Central Java," he said.

    Director of Development and Risk Synergy of PT Rekayasa Industri, Yanuar Budinorman said that the Cirebon-Semarang gas pipeline construction is part of the Trans Java gas pipeline integration project which is planned to be completed in 2021.

    The Trans Java project consists of three main projects, namely the western part of Java which covers the Cirebon-KHT line along the 84 km and Tegalgede-Muara Tawar along 50 km. Secondly, the northern part of Java is the 271 km Semarang-Gresik line and East Java Gas Pipeline (EJGP) -Grati along 22.1 km.

    "This development will also be a gas infrastructure from the eastern island of Java to the West so that the energy can accelerate the gas distribution evenly," he said.

    Meanwhile, Hermawan Eriadi, President Director of PT ENM, said that the plan to build and distribute the Cirebon-Semarang gas transmission pipeline will also support the construction of strategic project anchors in West Java such as the development of West Java International Airport (BIJB) and Aerocity in Kertajati Majalengka and Port Patimban in Subang.

    As a subsidiary of Regional Owned Enterprise PT Migas Hulu Jabar, said Hermawan, it supports the efforts of PT Rekayasa Industri to build the gas pipeline in order to improve national energy security.

    "We are committed to use gas transmission pipeline Cirebon-Semarang as a means of distributing gas in West Java," he concluded. (MAT)
