West Java Tourism Relies on Natural Potential and Culture

BANDUNG-Department of Tourism and Culture (Disparbud) West Java Province by relying on natural and cultural tourism targets the visit of foreign tourists (tourists) reached 1.5 million people in 2017. While for 2016 foreign tourists visit reached 1.1 million people.

Head West Java Disparbud, Ida Hernida said until July 2017, it noted only 600,000 foreign tourists who travel to land pasundan.

"For West Java target of 1.5 million people for 2017 which is driven by nature and cultural tourism because we are rich in culture, that's what we push," he told reporters in Bandung, Friday (25/08/2017).

Basically, tourists who visit to West Java including the city of Bandung comes from China and some European countries. While tourist visits to the city of Bandung is still dominated by tourists of China, Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia.

"If Chinese tourists to Pangandaran, Bandung is clearly still Europe because it has to do with historical tourism," he said.

Ida explained West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) is boosting the growth of tourist visits to Geopark Ciletuh Sukabumi Regency. Although, she claimed West Java Disparbud not dare to say the number of foreign tourists because newly promoting Geopark Ciletuh to Qatar and Dubai.

"Foreign tourists have not dared to talk because we just selling Ciletuh in Qatar and Dubai," he said.

Obstacles during this promotion, Ida said, because it is too broad and many tourist destinations in West Java, so it does not allow West Java Disparbud to check the tourist spot. In contrast to tourist destinations in Bali are only limited to that region alone.

"We are too big, many spots, if Bali is a little spot so there are only places, whereas Sukabumi to Pangandaran just how many thousand kilometers is, of course there are more obstacles, then the second direct flight. If there is already Kertajati Airport, I am optimistic," she said.

She hopes the government to continue to intensify the promotion of tourism, including in West Java. In addition, for the construction of international airports will soon be completed which will have a positive impact on tourist visits.

"Our suggestion should be vigorous promotion, the only way, because we realize right, the airport we have today is limited," she concluded. (MAT)
