BANDUNG-Until the end of 2016, 176 kilo meters of new toll roads have been in operation, while by the end of 2017 it is expected that additional new toll roads will be operated along the 392 kilometers.
"This addition is part of the Trans Java and Trans Sumatra toll roads," Mochamad Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (Pu Pera) said in his scientific oration at the Commemoration of the 97th Anniversary of Indonesian Higher Education in the West Hall of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) , Thursday (8/24).
He added that as long as the leadership of President Joko Widodo, in order to increase connectivity has been completed the construction of 2,623 kilometers of new roads, outside the toll road. Among them are the trans and border roads of Papua, Kalimantan and NTT.
In addition, according to him has also built a long new bridge in some parts of Indonesia. For example Tayan Bridge in Kalbar and Jembatan Merah Putih in Ambon.
According to him this development continues to be pursued because Indonesia is very left behind with other countries even with neighboring countries.
"So not because of pursuing prestige or luxury, but because we are far behind," he said.
According to him, after 40 years, Indonesia is only able to build 780 kilometers of toll roads. China and Malaysia, once learned to build Jagorawi toll road, but now China has managed to build 280 thousand kilo meters. Jo
