    Thousands of Prisoners in West Java Get Remission


    BANDUNG-More than 12,000 prisoners and criminal offenders in 31 prisons and detention in West Java get a general and special remission at the celebration of the 72nd Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in 2017. Delivery of remission is done in Class 1 prisons Bandung, Bandung City Canal Street, Thursday (17/8).

    Head of West Java Ministry of Justice and Rights Regional Office, Indro Purwoko in general said that the total of detainees in West Java more than 22,000 prisoners. Indro further explained that there are two categories of general remission given, the first general remission of one that is cutting the prison term but not free. This remission is given between 1 to 6 months. Then, the two common remissions are those who can cut the prison term and go free.

    "For those who get a general remission of one, as many as 11,527 people, while those who get a general remission of two or directly free of as many as 429 inmates," he said.

    The granting of this remission is symbolically given by the Vice Governor of West Java, Deddy Mizwar in a special ceremony that at the same time commemorate the 72nd anniversary of RI. To reporters, Deddy said that the remission is expected to provide stimulants to those who have not got a remission so that later can follow the entire coaching program in each prison. (Even)
