BANDUNG-National Aeronautics and Space Agency (Lapan) urges people to reduce light pollution.
Head of Lapan Saint Space Center Clara Yatini said light pollution can reduce the quality of our view if you want to see the sky well, including researching the Milky Way galaxy.
"If there are many lights, then we cannot see the stars clearly," he told reporters in Bandung, Sunday (6/8/2017) night, during the National Space Day event held at the front yard of Gedung Sate Bandung.
The existence of the Dark Heaven Night campaign is expected to reduce light pollution for at least an hour on National Memorial Day.
Carla rate, light pollution that occurs today is not so dangerous just limited to reduce the quality of our view to the sky.
"Hopefully can reduce light pollution at least one hour is done today," he said.
However, for astronomers, light pollution is very disturbing for research because it requires a clean sky conditions including avoidance of light pollution.
"Moreover, these astronomers are researching distant stars, they need sky conditions that are free from light pollution," he concluded. (MAT)
