    First Semester Astra Net Income Rising Significantly


    BANDUNG-PT Astra International Tbk in the first half of this year recorded a positive business growth.

    "We are grateful to be able to record positive results in the first semester of this year," said Prijono Sugiarto, President Director of PT Astra International Tbk, in an official statement about the Financial Report of Semester I 2017 PT Astra International Tbk.

    Prijono said, in the first half of this year, it recorded net income of Rp 98 trillion.

    The amount exceeded the same period in 2016, amounting to Rp 88.2 trillion, up 11 percent. Similarly, net profit, which in Q2 / 2017, rose 31 percent to Rp 9.3 trillion, exceeding the same period last year of Rp 7.1 trillion.

    According to him, the growth is because the business lines of PT Astra International Tbk also recorded positive results. One of them, exclaimed Prijono, is automotive.

    "In the first semester of 2017, the automotive company achieved net profit of Rp 4.2 trillion, 9 percent higher than in 2016 at Rp 3.8 trillion," he said.

    In the first half of 2017, national autos, especially cars, recorded growth. This is the main driver of PT Astra's products, such as PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) and PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI).

    In total, car sales in the country reached 534 thousand units. A total of 298 thousand of them, are subsidiaries of PT Astra Internastional Tbk.

    However, Prijono said, in the motorcycle sector, the national performance is slowing down. In total nationwide, sales of all brands and variants of motorcycles experienced a slowdown, i.e. to 2.7 million units. Jo
