Rector of ITB, Kadarsyah said that in this decade there have been many disasters that caused many victims, property and destructed the social order of society, so that holistic thinking is needed to reduce the impact of disaster.
"When the Tsunami of Aceh 2014, 200 thousand more people died, it also impact the surrounding country. There is a global disaster mitigation agreement from 2015 to 2030 in Sendai, Japan, all of which focus on reducing the impact of natural disasters, especially casualties," he said in West Hall ITB, Monday (24/7), in a seminar held by Geological Agency.
As an educational institution, ITB will continue to conduct research that can bridge the community as an end user in dealing with natural disasters. According to him, infrastructure is needed to resolve the disaster and technology to reduce the impact of disasters and others.
"We have cooperated with Japan to identify disaster. Still in research stages hopefully soon it can be applied, "he said.
